AAASP provides a professional education program for quality sport training and certification of area coordinators, coaches, referees, officials and other sport professionals who have direct involvement with young people in adaptedSPORTS® leagues.
adaptedSPORTS® coaches must become ASEP certified and AAASP certified for each sport for which they coach. Certification involves two parts:
- The American Sport Education Program (ASEP) Coaching Principles Course. This is an eight-hour course including: coaching philosophy, sport psychology, sport pedagogy, sport physiology and sport management.
- AAASP’s adaptedSPORTS® sport–specific Course: handball, basketball, football, and track and field. This course addresses the teaching of fundamental sports skills and basic strategies necessary for a specific sport. Training is available prior to the start of each sport season.
See training and certification schedules at the top of the page.
AAASP certification is applicable for three years. Certification renewal requires the completion and passing of AAASP’s advanced training program which provides more advanced individual and team fundamentals, drills and strategies.
